Hi Everyone! I wanted to remind everyone of a few things! Wednesday is "Pi Day" ( 3.14). Students have been challenged to memorize as many numbers of Pi as possible. This will take place in the classroom tomorrow, and then the top 2 from each class will compete against two other classes on Wednesday.
Last week a flyer went home regarding the district sponsored "STEM Camp". I have heard great things about this program, but I don't know a lot about it. There is a STEM Camp informational meeting tomorrow night in our FSUSD Board Room at 2490 Hilborn Road, Fairfield from 6-8pm. Check out the website for more information: www.fsusd.org/stemcamp2018 .
There has been a lot of talk about the "national school walk out" on Wednesday. If you need any information regarding the policies, please see Mrs. Cherry's BLOG.
Power Mart - I see many students (not necessarily my students) walking to Power Mart before school and I am worried for their safety. I also wonder if parents who are dropping their kids off at school know that their kids are walking down to Power Mart before school. Please have a conversation with your child. We have a closed campus which means once a child steps foot on campus, they are not to leave until the bell rings at 2:50. A lot of the kids who leave are dropped off at the end of the path by the tennis courts, so they are not officially on campus yet. I allow one snack time at the beginning of 2nd period and students are bringing in large bags of candy, chips, and cookies. Many of them have told me they get them at Power Mart. I don't know if they are getting the food before or after school and I'm not saying they should never go there, but I just want to make sure that parents know if they are going and that they have your permission.
Are you on Parent Portal/Aeries - I am assuming that all parents are checking parent portal at least weekly. All of my students have their access codes and they are supposed to be checking it, as well. I don't want there to be any surprises. If you are not on parent portal, please ask your child, as all of them know how to use it. I encourage you to set it up so that you get an email each week with a report of your child's current grade.
